Fitted Wardrobes into Loft Room

These wardrobes were to be bespoke made for a vey awkward space in a loft room with a sloping ceiling. Due to the nature of the room and uneven walls and ceiling, the wardrobes were made slightly smaller than the overall space. This was done in the workshop so as to avoid any unecessary disruption to the customer. A cut out in the far right divider enabled the customer to store items in the otherwise blocked alcove. Thereby not wasting any space at all in this small cottage. One fitted into the space(which only took four hours), Scribing pieces were then fitted against the uneven walls and ceiling to finish off the appearance of the wardrobes sitting snug into the space. In fact the wardrobes can easily be removed as they are fixed together in three pieces and then simply fixed to the floor via angled brackets. The most time consuming part of fitting and finishing was the white satin finish. This was mainly due to drying times and recoating.

Bathroom Cabinet and Cladding around Walls

I have to admit that this is my own bathroom which I refurbished myself. I used reclaimed doors from an old oak TV cabinet and fixed T&G cladding around the whole of the room, boxing in where necessary. Re-use, Re-use, Re-use!

Reproduction Piano Fretwork
One of the original pair had shattered but the frame was in good condition.
From the original remaining member of the pair a new pattern was traceddirectly onto 6mm ply.
This was then meticulously cut out by hand usinga scroll saw.
The new fretwork was fitted into the original frame and acolour match was acheived as close as possible.
This is always difficult when not all of the original finish is stripped back andre-worked.
However a good match was acheived and a finish was applied. The final match is not shown here.
The customer was very satisfied.

Coffee Table

This is a traditional coffee table with a modern twist, with a streamlined drawer incorporated into the side rail. Made from reclaimed solid pine. This table has been crafted using traditional methods, including hand cut dovetail joints and mortice and tenon joints. The chunky top has been produced by joining several pieces of pine together to erradicate natural twisting of the wood. Finished with wax enhancing the natural beauty of the wood, this will last for years unlike flimsy modern furniture that is mass produced.

 Stepped Bookcase

Custom made to the requirements of the customer. This bookcase allows for all different sizes of books, CD's, vinyl records and ornaments etc. All partitions and shelves are housed and glued to give maximum strength. Made from pine and finished in a dark wax, the bookcase looks like it has always been in this room.

Carvings

Hand carved in ash, these name plates look beautiful over the door for which they were made.
