Don't let those heir looms fall apart. We can also restore/repair your old pieces of furniture and antiques.

Mahogany Desk

This beautiful desk was in bad condition. It had a split right through the centre of the top and was finished with a high sheen laquer. All repairs (too many to list) were carried out first before stripping back to natural wood. Complete dismantling of the desk was necessary in order to acheieve this. The whole process was very time consuming, due to the amount of intricate carving. Having accomplished this; a wax finish was applied as requested by the customer. As you can see, the desk now looks beautiful and the customer is very happy. What many would throw away doesn't need to be and can last for years to come.

Victorian Drawers

A family heir loom, very precious to the owner. There are too many procedures to list regarding this restoration. We'll let the pictures do most of the talking. Something that is not obvious is that one end of the main unit was seperating from the main body. This was repaired first using glue blocks and then clamping back together. New frames were incorporated within the body to achieve this. Some of the broken knobs needed replacement wood, before then re-turning to match the original shape. These were then colour stained to match existing colour and finally french polished and waxed. Missing veneers were cut into the edges and coloured in the same way before the whole unit was finished properly.

Double Bass

This was in a poor state of repair, having splits around the join between the back and sides. It had also been inappropriately varnished on top of the original finish. All repairs were undertaken first and then it was completely stripped back to bare wood revealing inlay detail that had been hidden, due to years of dirt, grime and varnish. After wire wooling until smooth, a stain was applied to match the original finished colour. To gain the desired finish; a brush applied french polish substitute was used. Four coats were applied with rubbing down in between each coat. It was then given a coat of wax and polished to a high sheen. Total cost: approximately £120

Inlaid Tilting Occassional Table

A very rickerty table with loose legs and lifting veneer that needed to be fixed back down.

Mechanically Opening Dining Table

A bit of a nightmare job. Involved dismantling the whole mechanical mechanism in order to  repair all the dry joints and then re-glue and put back together again.  Not a simple matter  of taking the top off  as the mechanism  was fixed to the top  as well as the frame and legs.

Set of Dining Chairs

This set was in a bad state of repair. All joints have been completely taken apart and re-glued. Damaged wood has been replaced and carved where necessary. Colour match has been applied where necessary and a final wax and polish has been applied. This type of work is quite time consuming and is reflected in the cost. However to regain the original beauty and character of these chairs is priceless. Where could you buy a set like these?

Dining Table and Chairs

Originally this set was a very dark, almost mahogany colour with a chipped laquer finish.

Once stripped the table top was danish oiled(5 coats) with the table base and the chairs waxed to achieve a new natural finish.

A beautiful farmhouse dining set.
